Into the Light Part 1.2: Campaign Diary

With the unidentified knight charging at the Athar guards outside the church, our heroes got ready to take advantage of the situation one way or another. The unnamed assailant was beaten within an inch of his life and fled the scene. 12-Bar cast fly on Hraparakk, M’narr’s frog familiar, and the amphibian sped off in pursuit like a drone while the demihumans proceeded on foot. The pursuit was interrupted when a swarm of lurking cranium rats attacked the trio, but the vermin were dispatched with relative haste.

The party caught up with injured knight, who had seen Hraparakk following him and attacked. After a tense standoff, the knight introduced himself as Jason Scott, a knight of the Order of St Cuthbert. Scott did not appreciate 12-Bar’s dishonesty – he seemed to instinctively know when someone was lying to him – and the heroes did not appreciate Scott’s absolute refusal to share intel. M'narr was especially put out that a fellow Guvner wouldn't share his chant. But a cool truce was made. They headed on to meet with Cruigh Manathas, owner of the church.

Over in The Lady’s Ward, Cruigh was having a late lunch with a female friend. The players brought a hamper of food and fine wine to grease his palm, which seemed to work: Cruigh told them about the Hardhead investigators who’d gone missing inside the church, and how the Harmonium was generally in favour of the Athar guarding the place.

Cruigh invited our three investigators to stay for dinner, but they got the impression he was only offering because he assumed they would refuse. So they did. And anyway, Barmy Kank was somewhere out there, waiting to spill his secrets…
