On Yggdrasil: Campaign Diary
The party arrived on Yggdrasil at nightfall. Even in the waning light, the colossal branch under their feet and the forest of leaves overhead was an impressive sight. Ragados and M’narr both felt considerably stronger, too. M’narr, particularly, felt like he had returned home. OnYggdrasil, much like the Astral, intellect is strength. The party stopped for a longer evening rest than usual, with M’narr wring in his spellbook and Ragados spending some time circumnavigating the branch that they camped on.
The next day, 12-Bar picked up the Khaasta’s trail and the party continued onward. They were certain they must be close at this stage. Ragados came to regret ignoring 12-Bar’s warning about a suspicious looking tree, after two malevolent ash saplings ambushed him and did some serious damage. M’narr quickly dispatched the pair with a fireball or two, but his methods drew the attention of some Ratatosk: squirrel-folk. In broken common, the rodents scolded him for using fire, and told him how ugly he was. Our heroes decided to be the bigger men and walk away, all the while quietly praying that no-one else saw the flames.
A few hours later, the trio found the entrance to the Khaasta’s lair: a portal deep within a great knot on one of Yggdrasil’s branches. They leapt through, and found themselves in a dark corner of some kind of pocket dimension. M’narr and Ragados were immediately disappointed at their strength and speed returning to normal, but the party set their sights on the tower on the far side of the demiplane. While they crept within sprinting distance of the tower, a sentry spotted them and demanded they stop. M’narr didn’t wait to explain himself, and obliterated the Khaasta in a hail of magic from his wand – but not before the sentry raised the alarm. The party sprinted for the tower now, as a flurry of javelins flew in their direction. 12-Bar flew up to the first floor balcony, while M’narr teleported himself to his side. Ragados ran straight up the wall, with the help of his power armour. 12-Bar charmed the sentries and started shoving them over the balcony. As things stood, the heroes had the guard post to themselves; but news of the intruders was spreading around the camp, and the khaasta were closing in…
